Details:

Kick-off April Break with a special Maine Audubon pop-up. Spend the day with Effie & Lucia exploring the trails, playing in the dirt and observing local wildlife. Date: Friday, April 18th Time: 9:00AM-3:00PM Where: Gilsland Farm Audubon Center - Falmouth Best For: Grades 1st-4th Maximum Group Size: 10 At Maine Audubon, we will visit a new location with both indoor and outdoor learning opportunities on Gisland Farm. We plan to play games, identify plants and animals, use our imaginations to build in the mud and participate in an activity with the Maine Audubon educators. This will feel similar to our usual camp days, with a spin. Programs with Maine Outdoor Kids are all about supporting your child’s growth and building their confidence. We do this by finding the sweet spot between allowing space for independence and supporting development. It’s important to us that your child finds their voice through creativity, problem solving & social collaboration. Our team is there to facilitate activities, give choices, and prompt children’s thinking. There is no better atmosphere for this than the outdoors! Our programs are entirely outside which eliminates transitional time in vehicles, giving us an abundance of time at our chosen locations. Rain or shine, we venture outdoors and help build resilience and confidence being outdoors in all types of weather. We work with caregivers to make sure each child is prepared with proper clothes, footwear and food. You can expect to hear from us the week before the program date. A small camp size allows for flexibility so we can tune into each child’s individual needs, the weather and locations. Building connections with each child is where we excel. We prioritize time for learning about the surrounding environment, unstructured play, team-building games, adventure sports, crafting and building. Please see the FAQ page for additional information regarding pop-up and vacation camp logistics & registration. "Movement through active free play - particularly in the outdoors - is absolutely the most beneficial gift we as parents, teachers and caregivers can bestow on our children to ensure healthy bodies, creative minds, academic success, emotional stability and strong social skills." - Angela Hanscom
