Looking for a meaningful way to keep your child engaged during winter break? Experience 3 days of hands-on learning and exploration with MOK! Date: Monday 12/29 - Wednesday 12/31 Time: 9:00AM–3:30PM Best For: Grades 1–5 Max Group Size: 10 Day 1: Spend half the day adventuring in the woods—constructing forts, solving physical and creative challenges, and engaging in team-based problem solving. The other half will be spent climbing indoors at a local rock gym, with expert instruction and all rental gear included. Day 2: From the warmth and creativity of the kitchen to the backdrop of the woods—connecting to the materials and the land that inspire everything we make. With time for open-ended play and collaboration, kids will use their hands, spark creativity, and take pride in what they make—whether it's a treat or a forest creation. Day 3: How do farms thrive in winter? We’ll explore themes of agriculture, food systems, and animal care, rotating through a variety of spaces—from barns to trails, and a cozy classroom setting—investigating seasonal changes and visiting farm animals to better understand where food comes from. Maine Outdoor Kids' outdoor education programs are designed to support your child’s growth and confidence. We create a balance between offering independence and providing guidance, allowing children to explore, take initiative, and challenge themselves in a supportive environment. Creativity, problem-solving, and social connection are at the heart of everything we do. Our team is there to guide activities, offer meaningful choices, and encourage thoughtful exploration—all in a setting that inspires curiosity: the outdoors. Nearly all of our programs take place entirely outside (winter full-day camps are the exception), which means we avoid time lost in transit and maximize our time in nature. Rain or shine, we’re outside—helping kids build resilience, confidence, and a positive relationship with all kinds of weather. Before each program, we’ll connect with caregivers to ensure every child arrives prepared with the right clothing, gear, and meals. With intentionally small group sizes, we’re able to stay flexible—adapting to each child’s needs, the weather, and the opportunities each location offers. This also allows us to form strong, meaningful connections with every camper. We make space each day for environmental learning, unstructured play, collaborative games, hands-on building, crafting, and adventurous physical activity.
