Spring Break Camp: Dirt Discoveries

Dig into spring and discover the tiny creatures waking up all around us! Campers will spend the day exploring trails, turning over rocks and logs, peeking into puddles, and noticing the small signs of life that make spring such an exciting time outdoors. Through bug-themed scavenger hunts and hands-on exploration, we’ll get curious about the creatures we often overlook. Date: Thursday, April 22nd Time: 9:00AM–3:00PM Where: Twin Brook, Cumberland Best For: Grades K - 2nd Maximum Group Size: 10 We’ll search for eggs in vernal ponds, look for insects and other critters, and discover how these tiny animals are connected to the changing season. Plenty of child-led free play will give campers space to follow their own curiosity, get a little muddy, and see what they can find. It’s a day for slowing down, looking closely, and discovering. Our programs take place outdoors, giving kids plenty of time to move, explore, play, and connect with the natural world. By staying outside, we minimize time spent in vehicles and maximize time immersed in the places we visit. Each program is shaped by the season and location. Small group sizes allow our educators to get to know each child and adapt the day to individual needs, group energy, weather, and changing conditions. Building confidence, independence, curiosity, and connection is at the heart of what we do. We believe that experiencing the outdoors in a variety of weather helps kids become more capable and comfortable outside, so we venture out rain or shine whenever conditions are safe. Families will receive more detailed information and a packing list approximately one week before the program. We work with caregivers to help ensure each child arrives prepared with appropriate clothing, footwear, food, and gear for a full day outdoors. The nature of an outdoor program means that some circumstances are outside of our control. We carefully monitor weather forecasts and make real-time decisions based on current conditions, location, and risk assessment. In the event of severe or unsafe weather, a program may be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance and refunds will be issued. There is no rain make-up date.
