Where unstructured play meets outdoor adventure education. Where: Canco Woods, Portland Time: 2:10-5:00pm Session Dates: March 21st -> June 13th (12 weeks) Best For: K-4th graders Maximum Group Size: 10 (1:5) Pickup: Ocean Ave Elementary A combination of exploring the woods and trails, outdoor education, sports, arts & crafts and unstructured self-directed play time. Our goal is to give kids a safe and fun space to release some energy after school and be with friends old and new! Pickup by 5PM. Our instructors pick up at Ocean Ave Elementary and walk the 1/2 mile to the woods together. This group is K-4 for a multi-age experience. Kids from other schools are welcome to join but must have their own transportation from school. Spring Session will run every Thursday from March 21st through June 13th (12 WEEKS). No MOK during April Break (4/18). All MOK programming utilizes public parks, trail systems and green spaces to help connect children and their families to accessible outdoor spaces. We feel that this approach allows both staff and families involved to learn about and appreciate outdoor recreation opportunities right here in Southern Maine. For After-School Programs, instructors pick up groups at school and walk as a a group to basecamp. We see this as a time for kids to decompress from the day, catch up with friends and to reset before a fun afternoon outside! Our after-school programs are entirely outside, rain or shine. We will communicate directly with you and provide a packing list for each season and the appropriate clothing to pack. Unless there is particularly bad weather in the forecast where there's a safety concern, we may end early or cancel. We will give you ~24hrs notice if this occurs. In the event school is cancelled for weather, there is no MOK and no refunds given. Payment for this session is due March 15th. You may select the ‘Pay in Person’ option to pay later, or by check or Venmo (@maineoutdoorkids). Checks save us processing fees.
