Explore, imagine, and lead the way—the outdoors is your playground! This Wayfinders program is a guided, OT-informed playgroup where children and caregivers explore, discover, and grow side by side. Dates: Tuesday afternoons Time: 12:15 - 1:45PM Session: July 21 - August 18 (4 weeks) Location: Rotating, Greater Portland Best For: Kids ages 3-5 Max Group Size: 8 families This program is designed for children who are confident movers—running, climbing, and eager to explore more independently. Each week, families come together in small, intentional groups to engage in hands-on, nature-based experiences that support motor development, creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity. Caregivers participate alongside their child, gaining practical strategies and confidence to support development beyond the program. Led by an Occupational Therapy practitioner and early childhood educator, sessions offer gentle coaching and real-time support—helping you recognize milestones, nurture independence, and feel more confident in everyday play. Children engage with nature through textures, movement, and exploration, building foundational skills in a supportive, engaging environment. Our program is rooted in place-based exploration. Each week takes place at a different outdoor location in the Greater Portland area, thoughtfully selected based on weather, trail conditions, and opportunities for play and learning. Families will receive the full schedule of locations in advance. All sessions take place outdoors, rain or shine (8/25 designated makeup date), allowing babies and caregivers to connect with nature, build resilience, and develop comfort with different environments. Our team ensures each family arrives prepared with guidance on clothing, gear, and routines to maximize comfort and engagement. With small group sizes, we’re able to stay flexible and responsive—adapting to each child’s developmental stage while creating space for connection, reflection, and meaningful play. Each session blends unstructured exploration, social interaction, and caregiver support to foster confidence, curiosity, and joyful early learning. Inclusive and supportive by design - All children are welcome. This play-based, flexible program supports a range of developmental stages, including those with delays or differences. Led by an OT practitioner, it offers guidance and caregiver support—this is not a clinical therapy service. Have questions? Email info@maineoutdoorkids.com
