Details:
A week spent riding bikes, exploring the outdoors, and discovering new ways to play and move. Dates: July 20-23 Dropoff: 9am Pickup: 4pm Grades: Rising 2–4 Group Size: Up to 10 Our Urban Mountain Bike Camp offers a more relaxed, exploratory alternative to our trail-focused mountain bike program. This week is designed for riders who are comfortable on their bikes but prefer gentler terrain—bike paths, neighborhood routes, green spaces, and low-key trails—perfect for building confidence without the intensity of full trail systems. Each day includes bike safety checks, skills practice, group rides, and plenty of time to play and explore. Campers learn and refine essential biking fundamentals: safe braking, riding in a group, navigating mixed terrain, shifting, balance and control, situational awareness, and basic trail and path etiquette. We also introduce Leave No Trace principles and simple bike maintenance that helps riders feel capable and independent. Riders will pedal through a variety of local paths and parks over the week, discovering new routes, pockets of nature within the city, and favorite places to stop, rest, and play. Instruction is led by outdoor educators trained in child development, group management, and bike coaching—creating a safe, supportive environment where kids can progress at their own pace. Urban Bike Camp follows the rhythm of our standard programs: full days outdoors, unhurried play, and time to settle into each space. A typical day might mix riding with scavenger hunts, nature play, group games, and stops at beaches, climbing spots, or freshwater access points. We encourage curiosity, exploration, and collaboration—on and off the bike. This camp welcomes a range of abilities, but riders should be comfortable operating their own bikes, riding for up to 45–60 minutes at a time, and balancing on various terrains. Because our groups are intentionally small, we stay flexible—choosing locations based on weather, energy, and what the riders are excited about that day. We spend the entire day outside, giving campers uninterrupted time to ride, explore, and play without transitions in and out of vehicles. Before registering, please take a moment to read through our FAQs, Camp Readiness Criteria, and cancellation policy for important logistical details.
