Where adventure education meets leadership learning. Dates: July 27-30 Dropoff: 9am Pickup: 4pm Grades: Rising 4–7 Group Size: Up to 12 New this summer, our Leadership Academy is designed to nurture independence, confidence, and emerging leadership skills through hands-on adventure and outdoor learning. Campers explore a variety of outdoor spaces while trying new skills, taking on responsibility, and discovering their personal leadership style. Across the week, campers visit four different locations with experienced outdoor educators who guide them through teamwork, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication. We create opportunities for meaningful leadership moments while still giving plenty of space for self-discovery, creativity, and fun. This program is intentionally structured to build leadership skills day by day. Campers begin with collaborative challenges and group problem-solving, then move into planning and facilitating their own small activities. The week culminates in an opportunity to co-lead a short project or lesson for a younger camp group, putting new skills into practice in a supportive environment. It’s a great match for older campers who are excited to grow as leaders while adventuring outside. A Typical Day Might Include: - Learning outdoor living skills such as map reading, compass navigation, or basic first aid - Exploring hiking trails, forests, parks, or local swim spots - Taking island trips within Casco Bay for coastal exploration and group challenges - Planning and organizing group activities or mini-projects - Team-centered games that build collaboration, initiative, and problem-solving - Observing wildlife, plants, and natural systems - Leading or co-leading activities with younger campers Our days take place entirely outdoors, giving campers uninterrupted time to engage with the environment, build resilience, and gain confidence in all kinds of weather. With an older group ready for new responsibility, we’re able to pursue bolder adventures and deeper skill-building. This approach strengthens campers’ connection to local natural spaces while cultivating respect, stewardship, and a sense of belonging.
